nani IRO Fuccra : rakuen skirts
October 9, 2015

This was written by An from StraightGrain for the Miss Matatabi Makers series.

The new nani IRO Winter collection is filled with soft and warm brushed cottons. Picking just one of those beautiful fabrics was, as usual, not easy. In the end, I went for Fuccra Rakuen C.

With a pattern release on the agenda, I was a bit pressed for time this month, so I went for a quick project. I had used a nani IRO brushed cotton to make a simple skirt three years ago, so I knew that it would work well.

In contrast to three years ago, I have two daughters now, so I decided to go for a little twinning project. Two simple skirts, not lined this time.

Each of these skirts consists of two rectangles of fabric, and an elastic in the waist. Easy peasy. Unfortunately, I had only one daughter available to model the skirt. But didn’t she do a great job? 🙂

It was such a pleasure to work with brushed cotton again. Naomi Ito’s flowers print is another work of art; the fabric has a luxurious, soft feel to it, and it is warm and a bit thicker, without being heavy or stiff. I am so happy with these two additions to my daughters’ Winter wardrobes!

Please stock black and white gingham check in shirting weight or a bit lighter (plain cotton). It’s so hard to find a good black and white medium (about 1.5 cm) gingham check shirting weight fabric.
All I see is blue …
We don’t want seersucker or lawn, shirting please and black not blue … Feels like blue got more love in the store and black is kind of feeling left out.
Maybe charchoal/gray too …
