Dear Naomi, thanks for what you do! Sewing addicts usually look for special fabrics and patterns you can’t find in the stores. And you Nani Iro is just that: something really special with a lot of art behind. I discovered your collections at Miss Matatabi 2 years ago, and since then I’ve been a super fan of Nani Iro. I recently started sewingr from Japanese books, and these patterns paired with you fabrics are just magical!
Congrats for your incredible work.

nani iro … i love this fabric; it’s delicate but strong enough for children’s clothing … soft, but hearty enough for a well-loved quilt … prints and textures for every taste … nani-iro … what’s not to love … i have horded a bunch and ordered more recently, so i’m finally feeling *well stashed* enough to start cutting into a lovely piece for a blouse for me … also awaiting the new beatrix pattern from made-by-rae to use for the pattern …

thank you for this great opportunity to win some gorgeous fabric ….

For me, Nani Iro fabrics are all about the combination of soft, floaty gauze and colourful yet delicate prints. I don’t actually feel the need to make anything with them, they are a thing of beauty in their own right. However, I do find them incredible to sew with, the stitches seem to sink into the fabric. I have a few precious pieces, which I’ll be using to make some dresses for my little daughter. Thank you for the giveaway. X

I visited Japan in spring and couldn’t resist buying some nani IRO fabric. I hold it sometimes and it reminds me of the flow of the crowds on tree lined paths where the breeze would move the Sakura and you could hear a communal gasp at the beauty of nature. I think it’s one of the most precious things I have. I would truly treasure anything by Naomisan.

This is an amazingly generous giveaway. I can imagine the squeals of delight after the winner recovers from their fainting spell! I’ve barely dipped a toe into garment sewing (I’ve only cut out and not yet sewn a dress and a top muslin), so I haven’t had the pleasure of sewing with any nani IRO fabric yet. But that hasn’t stopped me from making multiple visits to the Miss Matatabi website to make a mental wishlist! I cringe at the thought of cutting into and ruining such beautiful fabric before I have more practice. Then I read Sanae Ishida’s blog and the imaginegnats blog and see them gush, yet again, about the amazing feel of the double gauze and I think maybe I should take the plunge. I love floral prints, so once I start ordering, I’m sure I’ll pick up some florals. The abstract prints are very eye catching and interesting, making them perfect, I think, for when I’m ready to “treat” myself to an extra special garment. Thank you for creating such inspiring fabric!

I do have several dresses made from Nano Iro double gauze, two made by Rebe. They are among my favorite go-to pieces due to there lovely softness and unbeatable drape. They also don’t need to be ironed. Win win win…

Nani Iro – or anything Naomi Ito does – is my favorite fabric line ever! I look forward to each season’s release and then buy bunches of it without any concrete plan… something I forbid myself from doing with any other fabric. Nani Iro fabrics are simply too unique and splendid to pass by… even if it means an ever expanding stash of fabrics. I only just started sewing two years ago when my daughter – Naomi! – was born. It was a Naomi Ito pattern and fabric combo that got me to finally learn how to sew. Needless to say, I quickly became obsessed. Thank you for all the wonderful inspiration on your blog! xoxo

I love Nani Iro fabrics 🙂 I talk about them so much that even my husband (who doesn’t know anything at all about craft or fashion) is now able to recognize Nani Iro designs when he sees them in pictures.

We recently went to the Nani Iro atelier in Osaka where I spent over an hour just looking and touching everything in awe. Unfortunately we had strict baggage restrictions and we were traveling a tiny budget so I only got to purchase a small amount of fabric. We have since made a wooden hanger so we can display the fabric on the wall as pieces of art. I would LOVE to win this prize so I could actually have enough fabric to sew with.

Thanks for arranging this awesome giveaway 🙂

Nani IRO has been on my wishlist for a very long time, so this giveaway is like an off season Christmas opportunity. If I were to be the fortunate receiver I would return to my Japanese sewing books and get down to business. Also, I am moving in a month’s time and new cushion covers would be just super. As for the scraps – I enjoy EPP so all excess pieces would be incorporated in new works.
Need I mention that I am crossing my fingers?
Best wishes,

I’m just so in love with Nani Iro fabrics – the fabrics themselves are always just SO beautiful and tactile, and the prints – Naomi’s painterly, whimsical style always blows me away. Seriously, I often debate whether I ought to cut into the fabric and make clothing – or should I just stretch it over a frame and make into a piece of art?

I’m a fairly new sewer… about 18 months ago I was googling a sewing pattern to check out what other, more clever sewists had done with it, when I came across the most beautiful fabric I’d ever seen. Ever. I was fascinated – what was this fabric? And, more importantly, where could I get some?! I looked everywhere local, but I couldn’t find anything like it where I live in Australia. I became a woman on a mission, and I googled and googled until I found the phrase Nani IRO – and once i goggled that, well, it was true love!

Thank you for making the most beautiful fabric in the world, that never fails to inspire me… and makes me want to become a better sewer, so I don’t stuff it up!

Oh hello to Naomi!
I started making baby quilts several years ago and the day that I discovered your fabrics was just about the most exciting thing that had happened in a long time! They are beautiful to sew with, so soft for new little babies to snuggle under and so so gorgeous to look at. I adore them, and thank you for making them. Joanna

Nani Iro fabrics are gorgeous, and there are a couple I wish would bemade available again – I’ve seen pictures of them, but no one has them for sale anymore: 1) last year’s fabric called something about “garden” in the colourway with the flourescent pink, and 2) fuwari fuwari with a light blue background and pink flowers. So gorgeous!

My Naomi Ito textiles are some of my most cherished possessions. There is such life and such heart woven into these cloths. These pieces will follow me into old age, I feel certain — a token of a creative journey which, for likely many Nani Iro lovers, is an often life + spirit quenching endeavor, to make… how wonderful to have these beautiful textiles to provide such inspiration along the way ♡ thank you so much!

I love the designs of Nani Iro but also when I visited the store in Osaka, I was amazed at the different base cloths that are available. There is limited availability in bricks and mortar stores where I live. Using your fabric has made me be more adventurous with wearing colours!

Nani iro was my first introduction to fabric that is really art. The fuccra rakuen (sp?) in plum, a double gauze, was so lovely that I bought all of it I could find and made shirts to sell in my Etsy store. Now that I sell labels (at ananemone labels on Etsy) instead of clothing, I use Naomi’s lovely fabrics to make things for myself and my kids, and my daughter has started to sew with them too 🙂

Naomi Ito’s fabrics are a recent discovery for me. I just bought a sewing machine in 2013, after my mum got married and moved to England. There went my personal sewing slave! Nani Iro fabrics got me inspired to make the first items of clothing I have sewn since high school. Now that I have two daughters, I enjoy making things for them. I have no stash of fabrics, so I must buy a new piece for every item I want to make, and I always use your fabrics. They brighten up every aspect of our life at home, and they fill our days with colour.

Hi Naomi ! Hi Nani !

You guys will have to read a LOT of comments I guess.. ^^ I’ll add mine with great pleasure.

Thank you for the huge carrot infront of my nose (your fabrics) that attracted that old donkey (me) so hard, that I finally learned how to sew.

I occasionally cut a piece from my stash to dress a little girl in a one of a kind piece, and have recently taken to surface design myself inspired by Naomi’s delicate watercolour pieces. Each artwork in a collection evokes a memory for me, be it blossoms littering the ground in spring, or the soft moss in a rainforest, and I love the way Naomi’s artworks connect me to nature! I am just not a floral person…I love geometric designs. Nani Iro florals are the only ones that regularly make me draw in my breath, because they’re so fantastic. I think I like them so much because even though they’re floral, they’re bold, or arranged in a way that makes them seem less feminine, even though they’re really feminine.

The reason I started sewing a couple years ago is actually because I saw your long sleeved brushed cotton Little Letter Nani Iro Washi dress online and decided that I had to have that fabric and make one for myself!!!!! So Nani Iro fabric has literally changed my life! Haha! And I have the fabric to make my own, I just haven’t started it yet. Probably this Fall! I’ve been mastering my skills to make that project all this time!!

I have also since taken up knitting after being so inspired by the DIY community and feeling like I could make things on my own if all these other lovely people could.

Being inspired to sew and knit has given me such rewarding activities to do with my free time which is a great outlet especially for a stay at home mom like me!! I feel like I can do a little bit for myself everyday which is awesome!!

So thank you MissMatatabi! Your Nani Iro Dress changed my life, literally!!! It’s crazy I never really thought about thist until now!!

Nani Iro has some of the most beautifully subtle prints I’ve ever seen. I simply adore her fabrics! The fabrics themselves are also delicious. I always look forward to a new collection and I wish all her prints would still be available as there are some from before my time that I’d love to sew with. Naomi really is an artist. Than you for sharing your work with us!

How do I feel about nani Iro? I’m in awe. I feel an immense sense of admiration for ceaseless creativity that Naomi’s work represents. It is a wonderful source of inspiration too, for those who use her products to create things of their own. All the fabrics are joy to work with as they are not only beautiful but of high quality as well. Those who might not be adventurous enough or as good at their sewing rest assured because Naomi’s patterns are easy to work with and hence the customers get all the help they might need. I’m always excited and full of anticipation when a new collection is due. Even if I don’t buy anything, just a look at Naomi’s new designs makes me HAPPY, it brings joy into my life for which I’m grateful! Thank you Naomi and keep up with what you are doing, it’s amazing.

Well I’d like to make that up for me! The beautiful cornflower blue is just begging to be made into a top for my mother (I’m yet to see for her but she is hinting! Hard!)…. I love the whimsical quality of nani iro fabrics, i think it’s the combination of the imaginative brush strokes, the interesting (and often unexpected) use of colour. The other thing I love is the feel of the fabrics chosen– my favourite of which is of course the double gauze. They make the best dresses.

Hi Naomi. I’ve only begun to sew this year, yet I’ve already purchased so many prints of Nani Iro. Each piece is a total work of art. A small part of me is always afraid to cut into the fabric, yet another part of me feels it to be a waste not to use. You are such an inspiration! I recently had my daughter paint a piece of canvas that I turned into a purse. I’m saving a few pieces (Spectacle-good night and herringbone-lock) for when she gets older (she’s only 4). If I’m lucky enough to win Miss Matatabi’s giveaway, I’d make some summer dresses for my daughters and some blouses for special people in my life so they too, can enjoy your artwork.
